I saw smoke tendrils in this wonderful fossilized Palm Root cabochon. My thoughts jumped from that to the idea of Hope, and how easy it is during dark times to let hope's flame die down to smoldering embers and a few wisps of smoke. I decided to create this pendant as a symbol for the importance of keeping that flame of hope burning, and of holding it close.
The front of this statement piece features a stippled background and fine silver smoke tendrils. The background is darkened while the smoke tendrils are polished. The patina I used created some interesting colors on the stippled surface of the background. Behind the stone, I cut out two hands keeping the flame alive and well. The bail is also stippled, and is hand cut and riveted to the pendant. Please note: this pendant is sold without a chain.

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources):Palm root comes from Indonesia. Over the course of millions of years, chalcedony and jasper slowly replaced the wood of these ancient roots. It is supposed to draw off negitve energy and to help restore balance, and is said to help create a strong connection to the earth.
