I began this necklace thinking of fall with its fading greens and glowing oranges. But it can also be a celebration of spring and summer, with green leaves and bright orange flowers. This necklace features two carnelian cabochons; one is triangular and the other is a rose cut rounded square. I love the mixture of shape and slight color differences. The triangle dangles freely from the stone above, which has a ring as a bail. I decided to give this pendant a beaded chain. I used round carnelians and little faceted orange sunstones. I wanted to add green and used a combination of smaller green and orange unakite and slightly larger green serpentine. Silver bead caps connect back to the silver pendant, and tiny seed beads separate the beads to add a more graceful look. The clasp is a hand made sterling silver toggle clasp.
SIZE: The necklace is about 19 inches. The pendant measures 1 2/4 inches long. The widest part of the carnelian triangle is just under 3/4 inch wide.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Carnelian, Sunstone, Unakite, Serpentine
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Carnelian is a type of agate. It is supposed to energize the blood and vitalize the physical, mental and emotional being. It is also said to facilitate concentration and open the heart. Sunstone carries the energy and warmth of the sun. It is considered a stone of leadership, of personal power and freedom. It also is supposed to bring joy and positive feelings to one's life. Unakite is actually a combination of epidote, quartz and feldspar.
