Dark amethyst teardrops dangle at the bottom of silver forged "branches". Little leaves, which are stamped for texture, decorate the branches. Another small leaf is soldered to the front of the hand made silver ear wires. I cut out the silver behind the stone to allow light to shine through. These sweet nature inspired earrings would make a perfect gift for the February child in your life (including yourself!); amethysts are February's birth stone.

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): One interesting property of amethyst, going back to ancient Roman times, is that it prevents drunkenness. In fact, the name comes from the Greek word "amethystus", meaning not drunken. Otherwise, amethyst is considered to provide calm, balance, patience and peace. Amethyst is February's birthstone.
