One of my favorite things to look for and appreciate on my daily walks around the property are mushrooms. They come in so many different colors, shapes, sizes - and they definitely inspire jewelry designs! Here is one of them. The stone is an appropriately named Mushroom Jasper. The sterling silver pendant itself is shaped like a mushroom, with the stone as its cap. I added a bronze field mouse mama watching as her two babies frolic on top of the mushroom. A few copper leaves and grasses surround her. I cut out a few more mushrooms behind the stone. The bail is hand cut and riveted.
Lapidary work on the stone was done by Laurie Gates Engelhardt in SW Washington.
SIZE: This pendant is about 2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. It is sold without a chain. I offer a variety of chains and cords which can be purchased separately. It is pictured here with a sterling wheat chain.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Mushroom Jasper, Bronze, Copper
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Jasper is considered to be the "supreme nurturer." It is said to bring tranquility and wholeness, especially in times of stress as well as provide courage and stimulate the imagination.
