This little Nephrite Jade cabochon is a deep forest green, which of course made me think of leaves. The fine silver leaves on the side were first stamped to create the design on top, then sawed out, filed and carefully sanded on the sides to remove any sharp points and edges. I then curved each one and soldered them to the sterling silver back. The bezel around the stone is fine silver. The bail is hand cut and riveted.
SIZE: This pendant measures about 1 1/8 inches long and 3/4 inches wide. This pendant is sold with an 18 inch snake chain.

PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Nephrite Jade and Jadeite are both jade, but there are some differences. Jadeite is most prized by Chinese artists and can have brighter colors than Nephrite. Nephrite does, however, have its own subtle beauty and is more readily available than Jadeite. It is found in Canada as well as Russia and China. Nephrite Jade is supposed to be good for emotional balance and stability. It is said to have a beneficial effect on love relationships.
