This necklace features a bouquet of Nacozari turquoise beads, with a focal natural turquoise cabochon (mine unknown) set in sterling and fine silver. I added sterling silver beads in between the turquoise, along with little sterling bead caps, to match the sterling setting of the cabochon. Because I wanted just a bit of contrast, I also added a few corrugated copper beads.
I cut out a wolf (or coyote if you prefer) behind the stone on the pendant as a little surprise. The toggle clasp is hand cut and hammered.
SIZE: The pendant hangs about 1 1/4 inches, and is 1/2 inch wide. The necklace is about 19 inches.
MATERIALS: Natural turquoise cabochon, Ncozari turquoise beads (Mexico), Sterling silver, Fine silver, Copper
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Turquoise is sacred to both Native American and oriental traditions. It is said to help promote honest and clear communication. In traditional thought, Turquoise unites the earth and the sky, bringing together male and female energies. This stone is supposed to be empathetic and balancing and assist creative problem-solving. Turquoise is one of December's birthstones.
