Beautiful blue Larimar stones offer dreams of tropical seas, frothy waves and gentle breezes, dreams that are especially welcome in the dreary winter of my Pacific Northwest.
I designed this necklace to celebrate those dreams. The top part of the pendant has two layers of fine silver waves surrounding a leaping copper dolphin. The background and one layer of waves have a sparkly texture created by melting silver dust and then sanding. The top layer of waves is polished and smooth. Below hangs a larimar teardrop, connected to the top with two jump rings so it swings freely. I cut a little sea turtle out behind the stone.
The chain is hand made. I created the links to look like bubbles rising in the water, graduating from small to large and then back to small. In between are larimar beads. The hammered silver toggle clasp is also hand made.
Lapidary artist is Laurie Gates Engelhardt.
SIZE: The pendant hangs about 2 3/8 inches. It is just over 1 1/2 inches wide at the widest part. The necklace measures about 19 inches.
