This is a dainty pendant featuring a gorgeous Gem Silica cabochon. Its translucent light blue-green color looks just like tropical water. I set it in a scalloped bezel and wrapped twisted silver wire around it. After antiquing, I polished up the bezel and wire, leaving it dark around the base of the bezel to really show off the lovely cabochon. The bail is hand cut and riveted.
Gem silica is a variety of chalcedony that gets its blue-green color from the presence of copper. It is a rather rare stone, and when free from inclusions is quite valuable. This cabochon does have inclusions, but is beautiful - and possibly more interesting than a completely pure one might be. Please note that the stone is a bit lighter and less intense than the pictures show; it was difficult to capture it perfectly.
SIZE: Length is 1 3/8 inches. Width at the bottom is 1/2 inch. This pendant is sold without a chain. I offer a variety of chains and cords which can be purchased separately.
