These rabbits are as anxious for spring as I have been. The tree behind them is still waiting for leaves... but they are coming! This pendant features a lovely Boulder Opal. This one does not have flash, but there is a lovely stream of milky blue-white opal running through the soft brown of the 'boulder.' The stone is set in fine silver on a sterling silver backplate. The tree and grass are copper which has been antiqued and polished; the rabbits are fine silver. The bail is handcut and riveted. I made the rivet head large to appear as a moon nestling in the tree branches. There is a cut-out hopping rabbit behind the stone.
Lapidary work on this lovely stone was done by Juvy Andres of JC Cabochons.
SIZE: The pendant is just under 1 3/4 inches high and just over 1 1/8 inches wide at the bottom. The cabochon measures about 28x8x5mm.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Fine silver, Boulder opal, Copper
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): Boulder Opal is said to carry warm Earth energies through the stone matrix as well as the illuminating energy of Fire through the opal. It is supposed to bring clarity and help one feel emotionally secure, and to bridge conscious and unconscious thoughts. Opal is one of October's birthstones.
