Silver and purple - what a great combination! These delicate earrings feature hammered sterling silver discs which are slightly curved. I riveted a dark purple Czech glass flower to each one, and then dangled a faceted amethyst bead below. The amethysts have little sterling silver bead caps on bottom and top. The ear wires are sterling silver.
The amethyst is February's birthstone!
SIZE: These earrings hang about 1 5/8 inches. The silver discs have a diameter of about 1/2 inch. Each earring weighs just over 1 gram.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, Amethyst, Czech glass
PROPERTIES OF STONES (information compiled from various sources): One interesting property of amethyst, going back to ancient Roman times, is that it supposedly prevents drunkenness. In fact, the name comes from the Greek word "amethystus", meaning not drunken. Otherwise, amethyst is considered to provide calm, balance, patience and peace. Amethyst is February's birthstone.
