I cannot argue with a rock that wants to be fire

May 29, 2021

I just can’t argue with a rock that wants to be fire.  I do try, but I never win. Here's more or less how it goes:

“You - yes you!

You could be a landscape – yes, you would be a wonderful landscape. Think about the plains, with a couple of mountains in the background. Imagine the animals you could see. Maybe even a buffalo!”

NO.”

“You could be a leaf… a glorious autumn leaf flinging itself from the tree in a moment of freedom.”

NO.”

--Brief interruption: “Me, me, me!! I want to be leaves!”

“Of course you can be leaves! Beautiful burgundy maple leaves…”

***********************************************************************************************

”And now back to you. You could be a flower. A summer flower with bees buzzing around, butterflies fluttering and touching down for a little kiss. Maybe even a hummingbird looking for nectar!”

NO.”

“I give up.  Fire it is.”
YESSSSSSSSS.”

“And now, what about you.

You could be an underwater scene, with mossy red seaweed tendrils reaching up to the surface. You would have fish swimming around, sea anemones opening and closing. You might even see an octopus!”

NO.”

“Okay, maybe not.

But you’d be a great sunset, with the sun already down behind the hills. Clouds floating in the sky painted pink and red.  We could do some flame painting on copper. Wouldn’t that be fun?”

NOOO.”

“Okay, No more arguing I guess. You can join your cousin in being fire.”

“Of course… was there really ever any question?”

“I guess not. You will be what you want to be, always.”
